SURF WITH THE TIDE is a mindset.  It derives its name from the quintessential "go with the flow" beach culture.  The book is a collection of 25 poems inspired by the self-reflection of children of all ages, gathered by pediatrician Dr. Danielle Aretz. Each aims to bolster, reassure and cultivate mental and physical wellbeing and convey simple skills - with a poetic nudge!

With wit and whimsy, poems breach the areas of: anxiety, attitude, authenticity, behaviors, breathing, calm, creativity, compassion, emotional intelligence, friendships, habits, independence, inner voice, mind & body connection, mindset, motivation, obsessive compulsive behavior, overwhelm, perfectionism, power of the imagination, procrastination, regulation, relationships, rigid thinking, self-esteem, self-talk, sensitivities, stress, thought cycles and other foundational supports.

SURF WITH THE TIDE is intended for readers and listeners of all generations.

A Peek INSIDE....

A Peek INSIDE....

A Peek INSIDE....

A Peek INSIDE....

A Peek INSIDE....

If the gloom inside my mind could make my stomach upsetter, could the opposite be true? Could I think my belly better? –

BUTTERFLIES

The hero in me was there all along stuck behind words like can’t and wrong –

METEOR MOMENT

Feel the rhythm of your breath until you feel renewed, focused, calm, in control, and back into your groove –

BREATHE

Worries are like sticky goo. You start with one, then forty-two –

WORRIES

Perfection isn’t a feat to commend. There’s no race to be won because there’s no end. It snatches the feeling of true happiness, a sense of achievement, the spark of success –

PERFECTION

What happens to feelings that are held in? Where do they wander beneath the skin? –

JUST A THOUGHT?

Motivation kicked in after I started and then my heart became light-hearted. As I gained momentum, I moved ahead. I eased the urge to go back to bed. –

MOMENTUM

Oh gosh, oh geez! Not those undies! I can’t, I won’t, they’ll make me wheeze. –

SHIMMY

The great Maya Angelou said it best, confirmed by trusty scientists: We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike –

ME'S & YOU'S

I’d use the magic lenses to calm myself with ease. Before my anger rocket launch. Before fight, flight, or freeze –

MAGIC MOOD GLASSES

If we worry about the "what ifs" big and small, then what if we don't use "what ifs" at all –

WHAT IFS

Tell yourself stories with purpose and care. Be a storyteller you want to hear –

FILL YOU

You can dance through stormy winds. From gray skies, rainbows form –
